Janitorial

 

Mission

The purpose of the Janitorial program at Charles R. Drew Transition Center is to train our students in janitorial and housekeeping services to prepare them for entry-level employment opportunities in this field.

 

Goals

  • Learn to use job related tools, materials and equipment supervised and unsupervised.

  • Learn to perform basic cleaning skills.

  • Organize individual work materials.

  • Follow a daily schedule.

  • Accept constructive criticism and redirection.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Work-Based Learning (WBL)

Students practice school/building custodial operations, including, but not limited to:

  • Building cleaning and maintenance, including sweeping floors and repairing school equipment

  • Loading and unloading trucks in the dock area

  • Trash removal

  • Learning how to recycle wood, metal and plastic and loading items into proper containers

  • Performing inventory, organizing materials and plastic wrapping school supplies on pallets and plastic wrapping pallets  ​
