Charles R. Drew Transition Center
Carpentry
Drew's Carpentry Center provides students with a variety of opportunities to gain valuable carpentry skills. The aim of the carpentry instruction is to teach/introduce students to the fundamentals of product production, restoration and refinishing. The instructional program provides students with the opportunity to design, install and repair structures from diverse materials. Student carpenters are exposed to the fundamentals of construction-related activities. They are involved in building garden beds, planters, tables, chairs, dog houses, cat scratch pads, picnic tables, and birdhouses. Students are encouraged to check the accuracy of their work with levelers, rulers, plump tools, and framing squares.
