Work Base Learning

The students of Charles R. Drew Transition Center aspire to become productive, income earning adults.  It is the mission of the Work Base Learning program to assist our students in making that goal a reality. The Work Base Learning students go to various sites throughout the Detroit area from 1 to 3 hours a day, Monday – Friday during the school year to practice basic hands-on skills and following directions, with the goal of learning appropriate work skills for future entry-level employment.

Some of the sites where our students have worked are:

  • TJ Maxx,

  • Salvation Army

  • Karmano’s Hospital

  • Sinai Grace Hospital

  • Services to Enhance Potential (STEP)
