Charles R. Drew Transition Center
 ADMISSIONS
Welcome to the
Charles R. Drew Transition Center
The Charles R. Drew Transition Center services young adults, ages 18-26 who have disabilities. Upon admission to the Charles Drew Center, the student is given assessments to determine the most appropriate level of instruction. An Individualized Education Program (IEP), which includes a Transition Plan, is developed through the efforts of the special education teacher, parent/guardian, and support staff, which may include a social worker, occupational therapist, sign language specialist, physical therapist, speech therapist, mobility therapist, translator or community agency representative. In planning the program, the interest of the student is taken into consideration. The students are taught life skills and vocational skills that lead to future entry-level employment. Upon graduation from Charles R. Drew Transition Center, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion.
